LOOK. Someone trolled Michigan’s Big House with an iconic cardboard cutout

Sometimes you catch a glimpse of something and you have to adjust your eyes and tip your cap at next-level trolling — especially if it has to do with our friends to the North, the Michigan Wolverines.

You remember the play that may have broke Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan program right? As much as Ohio State has thrown haymakers at Harbaugh and the Wolverines, there’s one moment that feels like a teetering on the edge of getting over the hump in Ann Arbor, and that was the game against Michigan State in the Big House back on Saturday, October 17.

Michigan was leading, ready to finally beat its in-state rival Michigan State and announce its arrival back to relevance when the unthinkable, improbable, and equally scintillating (if you’re a Spartan or Buckeye fan) happened. All the Wolverines had to do was get a punt off, get sacked, pull a hamstring, anything but what actually unfolded in front of our televised eyes.

In what will live on forever, the Spartans blocked the punt, took it all the way back for the touchdown as time expired, and that was that, a loss that’s on the wall of shame in Michigan lore. In case you need a refresher, here it is.

Now, get in your time machine and join us in the here and now. Michigan has gotten no better under Jim Harbaugh. Some would argue things are getting worse. Case in point, the Wolverines have yet to beat Ohio State, lost again to Michigan State this year, and just got bludgeoned, bruised, and battered by Wisconsin Saturday night to the tune of 49-11. Ouch.

But there’s one moment in the game Saturday against the Badgers that made me literally laugh out loud. It was a cutaway after Michigan quarterback Joe Milton threw an interception. It was there just briefly, but we hope you saw it. If not, that’s what the wonderment of the internet is all about. We’re putting it on a silver platter for you.

After the interception, the television cameras panned to some cardboard cutouts in the empty Big House, and what do we see? The fan that has become an iconic meme immortalized in cardboard glory. You know the one. The strapping lad that was caught with his hands on his head in disbelief after that wondrous marvel of a game.

Check it out.

There it is! I have so many questions after seeing this.

First, who is behind this? Is it a Michigan fan or did someone from East Lansing or Columbus pony up the cash to troll Michigan hard? Better yet, is it a Wolverine fan that’s had enough and decided to stick it to his or her’s favorite program that is underachieving and frustrating them at the moment? Was it this kid all grown up that did it himself? Furthermore, who let this cardboard cutout get through quality control and in the stands in the first place?

These are all questions that inquiring minds like mine want to know. If it’s you, please, please, please reach out to us because there’s a story behind this that we soooo want to tell.

That’s all we got. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming that probably ends with another Michigan loss in 2020.
