In case you missed the news today, Ohio State basketball star E.J. Liddell was threatened on social media after the Buckeyes failed to advance over No. 15 seed Oral Roberts. Not only is it cowardly to send blind, hate messages to young adults who are playing a game, but there’s no place for it in any sporting arena — at any level.
Those tied to OSU were quick to lend support. Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith and head coach Chris Holtmann released statements, while several other former players and personalities also offered support.
Liddell also received a nod of support from Ohio State football head coach Ryan Day, and it came in the way of some quotes once used by Theodore Roosevelt titled “The Man in the Arena.”
The words are right on point for the moment and are extremely deep, insightful, and thought-provoking. We’ll let you read it for yourself.

Something tells me Day has used these same quotes with his football team from time to time when criticism has come their way. But that’s just a guess. Either way, we all stand behind Liddell and it’s great to see many in the Ohio State community make public statements in much the same way.
