Going into the 2020 football season, LonghornsWire will look at each scholarship player listed on the Texas roster.
Over the summer, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role he will play for Tom Herman this season.
Today, we will be looking at redshirt junior cornerback Josh Thompson.

Analysis: Recently changing his number from No. 29 to No. 9, Josh Thompson is a fourth-year player coming off an injury in 2019. After playing in the first four games of the season, Thompson took a redshirt season to maintain his two years of eligibility.
As a sophomore, Thompson appeared in 13 games and started against Tulsa, USC, and West Virginia. He had 22 tackles while forcing one pass breakup. Also contributing on special teams, his role was supposed to grow before his injury.
The redshirt junior will enter the 2020 season as a backup to D’Shawn Jamison and Jalen Green. Thompson could also contribute at nickelback. One of the deepest position groups on the roster, Thompson will help a loaded secondary this year.
