Longhorns Profile Snapshot: No. 32 Daniel Young

LonghornsWire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the Texas roster. Today, we will be looking at senior RB Daniel Young.

Going into the 2020 football season, LonghornsWire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the Texas roster.

Over the summer, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for Tom Herman this season.

Today, we will be looking at senior running back Daniel Young.

Daniel Young, Running back

Height: 6-0 / Weight: 215

Class: Senior

Hometown: Houston, Texas

High School: Westfield

HS ranking (247Sports): Three-star / No. 38 position / No. 85 in-state

HS ranking (Rivals): Three-star / No. 38 position / No. 97 in-state

Analysis: As a freshman, Daniel Young was able to come in and make an immediate impact, starting the final five games of the season and totaling 373 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Ever since then, his production has decreased, thanks to increased talent at the position.

Young saw action in eight games in 2019 but only managed 63 yards on 16 carries. With the roles of Keaontay Ingram and Roschon Johnson increased, Young was getting fewer and fewer carries.

Now, five-star recruit Bijan Robinson is going to be on campus, ready to compete for a starting role. Because of this, Young could be an odd man out as far as the running back rotation goes. At the very least, he will be the most experienced ball carrier for the Longhorns in 2020.
