Longhorns in NFL: How each rookie performed in their professional debuts

Take a look at how former Texas players Brandon Jones, Devin Duvernay, Collin Johnson and Malcolm Roach each performed in their NFL debuts.

If you’re a Texas fan, it was a successful weekend of football at both the college and NFL level.

The Longhorns dominated UTEP in their season opener 59-3 on Saturday night. Less than 24 hours later, former Texas players Brandon Jones, Devin Duvernay, Collin Johnson and Malcolm Roach each made their NFL debuts.

Three of the four Texas ex’s were fortunate to record a win with their respective teams. Jones, Duvernay and Johnson were each selected in the 2020 NFL draft. Roach signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted rookie free agent shortly after the draft concluded.

Roach is the perfect example that you can make a name for yourself in the league regardless of where, or if, you are drafted. His resiliency landed him a spot on the Saints’ 53-man roster, where he was able to contribute immediately.
