Reese’s Senior bowl week concluded on Saturday as the National team took home a 20-10 victory over the American team. I guess you could technically say that the Jets beat the Lions. The National coaching staff was the New York Jets coaching staff and the American team was coached by the Detroit Lions.
One former Tiger stood out to the Lions coaching staff amongst the uber-talented group of players in Mobile this week. That would be Damone Clark. Damone Clark won an award as the best linebacker on the American team. It would seem as though the stars are kind of aligning for Clark to go to the Motor City. Former LSU linebacker, Kelvin Sheppard, is the linebacker coach for Detroit after coaching for the LSU Tigers and mentoring Damone Clark.
Clark not only looked impressive in the passing defense drills, but he offers a ready-made connection with Detroit. Lions LB coach Kelvin Sheppard called the well-built Clark “like my little brother” after reuniting with him in Mobile. Sheppard coached the LBs at LSU before joining the Lions staff last year. Clark is certainly in play at the top of the third round. – Jeff Risdon, Lions Wire
The 2022 NFL Draft will be on Thursday, April 28th in Las Vegas, Nevada. Between now and then, Clark will have more time to increase the value of his stock as he attempts to become another star linebacker from LSU in the pros. LSU has two different Pro Days scheduled: Thursday, April 5th at 6 p.m. and Wednesday, April 6th at 10:00 a.m.
