Detroit Lions coach Matt Patricia announced that the team has signed corner Chris Jones to the active roster, taking the vacated spot left open after Justin Coleman was placed on injured reserve.

Jones, an undrafted corner out of Nebraska in 2018 and got his NFL career started when he signed with the Lions but failed to make it out of training camp.

Jones (6-0, 200) elected to sign onto the Arizona Cardinals practice squad as was promoted to the active roster in November of his rookie season. During his two seasons with the Cardinals, Jones bounced between the practice squad and active roster, playing in 13 games, including starting three in 2019. He amassed 22 tackles and six pass breakups during that time.

After 2020 camp, the Cardinals waived him at cut downs and signed him onto their practice squad. After not being among the Cardinals protected practice squad players this week — he was in Week 1, per Cardinals Wire — the Lions took the opportunity to bring him back to Detroit and signed him off their practice squad.
