Lions, Bob Quinn at Oklahoma Sooners pro day: Players they saw and potential draft fits

Lions GM Bob Quinn was at the Oklahoma Sooners pro day and saw several 2020 NFL Draft prospects including Neville Gallimore and Jalen Hurts

Oklahoma held its prospect pro day on Wednesday to give the Sooner athletes one last chance to impress NFL teams with an on-field workout. The Detroit Lions, led by GM Bob Quinn in person, were in attendance in Norman to check out several aspiring NFL draftees.

For Lions purposes, the most likely Sooner candidate to join the den is DT Neville Gallimore. A high-energy disruptor on the inside, Gallimore had a strong showing during Senior Bowl week where the Lions coached. He is not an interior anchor despite weighing over 300 pounds. Gallimore is generally regarded as a Day 2 talent.

Linebacker Kenneth Murray did not work out due to a hamstring strain he suffered while running the 40 at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine two weeks ago. Murray projects as a late-first/early-second round prospect with great range and sure tackling ability but questionable play strength and instincts.

Wideout CeeDee Lamb figures to be long gone by the time the Lions’ second pick rolls around. A gifted receiver who is at his best after the catch, Lamb has some Antonio Brown (on the field) to his game. He didn’t work out but did run routes:

Cornerback Parnell Motley ran a reported 40-yard dash time of 4.5 flat, which is a good showing for the 6-0, 180-pound combine snub. He’s a Day 3 prospect with a lot of traits the Lions favor.

Jalen Hurts is an interesting study as a possible backup QB option for Detroit in the middle rounds, should he last that long. Hurts is very accurate and has some athleticism but lacks a big arm and size.
