Limiting Steelers’ running game among 4 keys to Jets defense

The potential return of Jamal Adams and Quinnen Williams should help the Jets defense stop the Steelers running game.

Watch out for James Washington

James Washington has emerged as the Steelers’ big-play receiving threat in only his second season with the team.

The 5-foot-11, 213-pound Washington only has 39 receptions on the season, but has racked up 694 receiving yards and three scores thanks to his ability to break off huge gains at any point in the game.

Despite his low reception total, Washington actually ranks third in air yards before catch (13.5), fifth in yards per reception (17.8) and 10th in yards per target (10.1). He has established a solid relationship with Hodges, garnering 19 targets over the past three games, including 11 against the Bills. The Jets must key on Washington more than any other receiving on the Steelers roster — especially if JuJu Smith-Schuster misses another game.
