Lawrence lands huge honor following NFL Week 3

Congrats to the former Tiger on earning his first career accolade on the next level.

Former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence is finally starting to see the fruits of his labor. The Jacksonville Jaguars QB was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday following his breakout performance in the Jaguars 38-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Lawrence threw for a 71.8% completion rate, 262 yards passing and three touchdowns in the Jaguars win over the Chargers which snapped a nine-game losing streak on the road. The Georgia Native’s 115.5 passer rating was the AFC’s best in Week 3.

“Well, it just shows that he is progressing, number one,” Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said on Wednesday. “Number two, I think the guys around him are playing extremely well, meaning the offensive line and everybody on offense. It’s part of the progression of our offense and the steps that we need to take to be a great offense in this league. We’re not there yet, but that’s a step in the right direction and he [Trevor Lawrence] understands too that he can’t get that type of recognition without the guys around him.”

So far this season, the former three-year Clemson starter has recorded 772 total passing yards, six touchdowns and only one interception along with a 2-1 record.
