Latest 3-round mock draft features two Nittany Lions

Where do these Penn State players fall in the latest three-round mock draft from CBS Sports?

We have finally arrived! It’s draft month! This is about the time of year where we start to see where these draft analysts really are grading some of the top prospects for the spring.

Penn State has plenty of prospects to keep on your radar.

In the latest 3-round CBS Sports mock draft, they feature two Nittany Lions being taken.

First, we have none other than Joey Porter Jr. being selected with the 31st overall pick, trading up with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Let’s break this one down.

The Giants recently went out and paid Adoree’ Jackson a few years ago. The depth is there, but the Giants are looking for a true number one corner. That is where Joey Porter Jr. comes in.

Porter Jr. is everything you could ask for in an NFL cornerback, and he would fit in perfectly with the Giants’ secondary.

It’s also worth noting that Jackson is set to become a free agent in 2024, but he does have a potential out in 2023.

Meaning, the Giants will also need to start looking ahead into the future of their cornerback room.

Speaking of money and paying players, the Giants did just pay Daniel Jones this offseason, but running back [autotag]Saquon Barkley[/autotag] is still waiting to be paid, whether that be by the Giants or not.

Joey Porter Jr. would fit in perfectly with the Giants’ secondary.

The next player is wide receiver [autotag]Parker Washington[/autotag] being selected by the Arizona Cardinals with the 96th (3rd round) overall pick in the draft.

Let’s break this one down.

First, Washington does have the potential to be a top option on a team, but he would really flourish as a slot wide receiver.

Washington brings even more speed into the Cardinals’ receiver room than they already had, with players like 2020 second-round draft pick Rondale Moore.

The Cardinals are also shopping veteran receiver DeAndre Hopkins, bringing their receiver room to even slimmer depth.

They would then be left with Marquise Brown and Moore to headline their wide receiver room.

So, Washington would fit in perfectly with the Cardinals’ offense.

His athleticism is also something that the Cardinals could use to their advantage.

With the limited options at wide receiver for the Cardinals, Washington would fit in perfectly both in their wide receiver room and on their offense.

The Cardinals could also be potentially losing pass-catchers in their running back room in veteran James Connor.

So, their options are slim, and we could see the, draft a pass-catcher earlier than we think.

It is also likely that we don’t see Kyler Murray ready for Week 1 of the 2023 season.

The Cardinals are really struggling right now, but they do have certain pieces to help them in a rebuild.

Penn State has plenty of prospects to keep an eye on this spring. Porter Jr. headlines their 2023 class, but let’s not overlook the wide receiver talent that has come through State College. It was Jahan Dotson last year. It’s both Parker Washington and Mitchell Tinsley this year.

The draft is just a few weeks away!
