Lakers’ Jalen Hood-Schifino to miss 10 days with knee injury

Hood-Schifino is slated to miss the first five games of the regular season due to a knee injury.

Los Angeles Lakers rookie Jalen Hood-Schifino will miss the next 10 days due to a right patella contusion, according to Khobi Price of the Southern California News Group.

Hood-Schifino did not play in the Lakers’ last two preseason games due to the injury. He is slated to miss the first five games of the regular season after the team said he will be reevaluated on Nov. 3. The Lakers will also be without Jarred Vanderbilt (heel) to start the season.

The 17th pick averaged 3.5 points, four assists and 3.8 rebounds in four appearances this preseason. He had his most productive game on Oct. 7 versus Golden State with seven points, six rebounds, two assists and one blocked shot.

Hood-Schifino isn’t expected to play a large role to begin the season, but the 20-year-old has impressed the team during training camp and the preseason. He projects to be largely in a developmental role this season as one of the youngest players on the roster.
