Lady Vols win series opener at Arkansas

Tennessee softball wins series opener at Arkansas.

No. 3 Tennessee (39-5, 17-2 SEC) defeated No. 12 Arkansas (35-14, 11-8 SEC), 3-1, Saturday at Bogle Field in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Tennessee won its ninth consecutive contest as graduate student Ashley Rogers (14-1) pitched a complete game.

She pitched seven innings, allowing three hits, three walks and recorded seven strikeouts.

The Lady Vols ended a scoreless tie when Mackenzie Donihoo hit a solo home run in the fifth inning.

The Razorbacks tied the game when Reagan Johnson hit an RBI single, scoring Atalyia Rijo.

Tennessee led after Zaida Puni hit an RBI single. Puni’s hit and an Arkansas error allowed both Lair Beautae and Kiki Milloy to score.
