Lady Vols set records in win versus North Carolina Central

Tennessee sets records in win versus North Carolina Central to remain undefeated.

No. 18 Tennessee (8-0) defeated North Carolina Central (0-12), 139-59, on Saturday at Food City Center. Rankings reflect the USA TODAY Sports women’s basketball coaches poll.

The Lady Vols remain undefeated in Kim Caldwell’s first season as head coach.

Samara Spencer led Tennessee in scoring with 33 points. She converted 10-of-15 field goal attempts, 9-of-13 three-point attempts and 4-of-7 free throw attempts.

Talaysia Cooper and Sara Puckett led the Lady Vols in rebounding with six each. Spencer also led Tennessee in assists (10).

Tennessee totaled 49 bench points, 34 points in the paint, 73 points off turnovers, 25 second chance points and 34 fast break points.

The Lady Vols set a single-game program and SEC record for points in game. Tennessee also set a NCAA record for three-point field goals in a game (30). The Lady Vols recorded the most points scored during a half in program history (69).
