Tennessee (8-5-4, 3-4-3 SEC) defeated Vanderbilt (8-5-5, 3-5-2), 1-0, Thursday at Vanderbilt Complex in Nashville, Tennessee.
Thursday’s loss was the Commodores’ first at home this season and the Lady Vols’ first road win at Vanderbilt since 2013.
Tennessee is ninth in league standings and secured a berth in the SEC Tournament. The Lady Vols will next play against No. 8 seed Auburn in the SEC Tournament. The contest will take place in Pensacola, Florida on Sunday. Kickoff is slated for 4:30 p.m. EDT.
Tennessee and the Commodores were tied, 0-0, at halftime before sophomore Kameron Simmonds scored during the 60th minute.
Vanderbilt outshot the Lady Vols, 17-5, with seven of the Commodores’ scoring chances landing on goal. Tennessee had seven shots in the contest with two landing on goal.
Goalkeeper Ally Zazzara recorded a career-high seven saves en route to posting a shutout.
