Recapping Tennessee’s soccer victory over Missouri Friday night

KNOXVILLE — The Tennessee Lady Vols soccer team kept its perfect home record intact Friday night with a 2-1 victory over Missouri at Regal Soccer Stadium.

The Lady Vols (2-2, 2-2 SEC) took a 1-0 lead over the Tigers when Alicia Donley scored the match’s first goal in the 45th minute.

Claudia Dipasupil was credited with the assist on Donley’s first marker of the season.

The Lady Vols extended their advantage to 2-0 when Jaida Thomas scored her second marker of the 2020 campaign.

Dipasupil and Mackenzie George each picked up assists on the goal, which came in the 71st minute.

Missouri (1-2, 1-2 SEC) scored its lone goal of the match when Zoe Cross tallied an unassisted marker in the 79th minute.

Despite earning a hard-fought victory, the Lady Vols were outshot 19-7, however six of Tennessee’s shots landed on target.

The Tigers had nine shots on goal. UT goalkeeper Lindsey Romig had eight saves in the victory.

The Lady Vols return to action on Oct. 18 when they travel to Lexington to face Kentucky.

Kick off is slated for 5 p.m. EDT. The match will be televised on ESPNU.
