Lady Vols lose series finale at Ole Miss.

No. 12 Tennessee lost its series finale at Ole Miss on Monday.

The Lady Vols (35-15, 12-8 SEC) outhit Ole Miss (36-15, 10-11 SEC), 5-2, but came up on the short end of a 3-1 decision at OM Softball Complex.

The Rebels scored three unearned runs in the third inning as Tennessee reliever Nicola Simpson threw a pair of wild pitches. Sydney Gutierrez produced an RBI single.

Tennessee starter Erin Emoundson (18-6) was charged with a loss as she faced the first two Ole Miss hitters, which reached base.

She gave way to Simpson, who battled control issues in her outing, uncorking three wild pitches.

Lady Vols’ shortstop Ivy Davis had two hits in the contest, including a home run in the fourth inning.
