Lady Vols lose second straight road game at Florida

The Lady Vols lose its second straight road game at Florida.

No. 7 Tennessee (19-3, 8-2 SEC) lost at Florida (16-6, 6-3 SEC), 84-59, Thursday.

The win was Florida’s fifth in the series against Tennessee, which had won 54 of the 58 previous games dating back to 1980.

Florida shot a season-best 53.2 percent from the floor during the contest.

The Gators had a 36-29 lead at halftime before pulling away in the second half. Florida’s Kiara Smith had a game-high 25 points and finished with five rebounds and five assists.

Alexus Dye led the Lady Vols with 10 points. She also had six rebounds.

Rae Burrell and Tess Darby added nine points each. Tamari Key finished with eight points and was Tennessee’s leading rebounder with eight.

Tennessee lost at Auburn in its last road game at Auburn on Jan. 27. The Lady Vols have lost two consecutive contests on the road.
