No. 5 seed Tennessee (19-11) defeated No. 4 seed Alabama (23-9), 83-61, on Friday in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.
Tennessee’s Jewel Spear led all scorers with 24 points. Rickea Jackson also recorded 22 points, nine rebounds and three assists for the Lady Vols.
Tennessee scored 42 points in the paint to Alabama’s 34. The Crimson Tide converted 14 turnovers in the contest.
The Lady Vols advance to the SEC Tournament semifinals. Tennessee will play No. 1 seed South Carolina on Saturday. Tipoff between the Lady Vols and Gamecocks is slated for 4:30 p.m. EST and will be televised by ESPNU.
