Lady Vols’ coaching staff claims regional honor

Tennessee’s softball coaching staff claims regional honor.

Tennessee softball earned ATEC/NFCA Southeast Region Coaching Staff of the Year honors Thursday.

Led by head coach Karen Weekly, the Lady Vols (51-10, 19-5 SEC) recorded its first 50-win season in program history and advanced to the Women’s College Word Series for the eighth time in 2023.

Tennessee won the Southeastern Conference regular-season and tournament championships in 2023 for the first time in program history. The Lady Vols won its first regular-season title since 2007 and claimed its first tournament championship since 2011.

Tennessee earned a No. 4 seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

The Lady Vols’ coaching staff includes Chris Malveaux, Megan Rhodes Smith and volunteer assistant Kate Malveaux.

The 2023 season marked the sixth time Tennessee has been recognized as the regional coaching staff of the year.
