Lady Vols tennis breaks program record for single-season SEC wins.

No. 14 Tennessee (18-4, 11-2 SEC) defeated Mississippi State (10-14, 0-13 SEC) Sunday at A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre in Starkville, Mississippi.

Sunday’s victory breaks a program record for single-season SEC wins. Tennessee’s previous record was 10 SEC wins in 2001. The Lady Vols’ record of 18-4 also marks Tennessee’s best regular-season finish since 2001 (21-2).

Tennessee clinched a double-BYE in the 2023 SEC Tournament and will be a 3-seed. The tournament is slated to begin Wednesday in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Tennessee will play its first match on Friday.

“As we grow older in life, it is not that often that you get to do many things for the first time,” Tennessee head coach Alison Ojeda said. “I am thrilled that this 2022-23 team has won 11 SEC regular season matches for the first time in program history. Every single player, coach and staff member that is a part of our squad has really done a great job preparing for success. I just want to say a big thank you to everyone.”
