Lady Gaga performs powerful version of ‘Hold My Hand’ at the Oscars

A stripped-down performance from the outgoing pop star.

Lady Gaga was a late addition to the lineup of performers for Sunday night’s Oscars, but she belted out a powerful and emotional rendition of Top Gun: Maverick‘s hit “Hold My Hand.” Before starting to sing, Gaga — who changed from her dramatic gown into a black t-shirt and torn jeans for the performance — spoke into the mic about how heroes are all around and that the song was deeply important to her. “You might find that you can be your own hero, even if you feel broken inside,” she stated.

Rather than a glitzy performance, Lady Gaga kept things simple having removed her makeup from earlier in the evening and opting for a single French braid. Her voice was powerful and strong as she belted out the lyrics.

It was wonderful.
