Klay Thompson makes appearance on bench at Chase Center for Warriors vs. Pacers

After injuring his Achilles during the offseason, Klay Thompson made his first appearance on the Golden State Warriors bench against the Indiana Pacers.

For the first time during the 2020-21 season, the Golden State Warriors welcomed a familiar face to the bench.

After suffering a torn Achilles in late November, Klay Thompson made an appearance at Chase Center for Golden State’s tilt against the Indiana Pacers. The injured shooting guard sat behind his teammates on the bench for the game.

Prior to tipoff, Steve Kerr told members of the media Thompson has been around Golden State’s facility recently. The Warriors head coach was hoping to see the five-time All-Star.

I haven’t seen him yet, but he’s been around the last couple of days. He got his testing done and he’s come into the facility and seen some of the guys. And come in to see the training staff, but we haven’t crossed paths yet. I hope to see him tonight.

While he rehabbed his ACL injury during the 2019-20 season, Thompson was occasionally on the Warriors bench. The 30-year-old guard even traveled with the team at times. However, Kerr said he doubts Thompson will attend any of Golden State’s upcoming road trips.

After capping off a seven-game homestand with a contest against Indiana on Tuesday, the Warriors will venture outside the Bay Area for three consecutive stops. Thompson’s next opportunity to join the Warriors on the bench will be Jan. 20 against the San Antonio Spurs.
