The Golden State Warriors secured their place in the 2024 play-in tournament with a win over the Houston Rockets on Thursday (April 4). Steve Kerr’s team secured victory because three players scored 20 or more points. Klay Thompson, who has been surging of late, was a major factor in his team’s overall performance.
When speaking to the media after the game, Thompson shared his thoughts on Tari Eason’s recent trolling of Golden State where he asked the Warriors to ‘come out and play,’ in reference to the 1980’s movie.
“That’s pretty lame, especially if you’re not even playing,” Thompson said. “It’s one thing if you’re out there playing and you’re out there competing and you can back it up. But to be trolling from the sidelines? What are we doing? The times we talk mess, at least we’re out there competing.”
Eason’s comments have certainly come back to bite him. The Warriors were clearly fired up for the game against Houston, and their veteran savvy shone throughout.

Thompson ended the game with 29 points, four assists, and three rebounds, shooting 73.3% from the field and 63.6% from 3-point range. His hot shooting from the perimeter and reliable defense were huge bonuses to the Warriors’ overall performance.
Now, Golden State holds a four-game cushion over the Rockets, which should be enough to secure their spot in the play-in tournament. Then, the hard work will really begin.
