Although the Golden State Warriors will have multiple representatives at the NBA’s All-Star weekend in Cleveland, one member of the team received a surprising snub from the Rising Stars game.
Despite a resume filled with explosive dunks, Warriors rookie Jonathan Kuminga was left off the league’s Rising Stars roster. With the game featuring the league’s top rookie and sophomore players approaching, Kuminga’s teammate recently spoke up about the snub.
After the Warriors’ win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday, Klay Thompson called Kuminga not being selected from the Rising Stars game “a travesty.”
He is so good around the rim. He is really good in the post. His jump shot is very fluid. To be 19 and make the impact he does, it’s a travesty he’s not in the rookie-sophomore game. That doesn’t make any sense. I don’t know what the NBA was looking for in that one.

Kuminga is coming off a stretch of three consecutive games with 16 or more points for the Warriors. On Monday against the Thunder, Kuminga played a key role in extending the Warriors’ win streak, scoring 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field with one monster putback dunk.
Through 42 games into his rookie campaign, Kuminga is averaging 7.3 points on 49.6% shooting from the floor with 2.6 rebounds in 13 minutes per contest.
