One of the most recognizable voices of college football will be taking his talents to the NFL. It was reported last week that Amazon was interested in landing ABC/ESPN college football analyst and former Ohio State quarterback, Kirk Herbstreit, for its upcoming Thursday night NFL broadcasts.
Now, it appears as though that has come to fruition according to NBC Sports’ Peter King. Amazon will begin streaming NFL games this fall exclusively on its Amazon Prime Video, and getting a top-shelf analyst and play-by-play man will be important to get the service off the ground.
And if you think Herbie doing a game in the NFL on another network would be something that ESPN frowns upon, it is expected that Herbstreit will remain on the ABC/ESPN telecasts and with College GameDay, of which he’s been a part of since 1996.
Via @peter_king, Amazon settles on (or perhaps settles for) Kirk Herbstreit as the Thursday Night Football analyst. https://t.co/VOYQMvqKik

There has been no announcement or reports on who Herbstreit’s partner will be, but Al Michaels has been a name also lobbied about as a potential. We’ll have more as it becomes available.
