Tennessee (1-0) defeated Samford (0-1), 101-53, on Tuesday at Food City Center. Tuesday’s contest was the first for Tennessee under head coach Kim Caldwell.
Caldwell was hired as Tennessee’s head coach in April. She met with media following the Lady Vols’ win against Samford.
“Happy to get game one done,” Caldwell said. “Wasn’t the prettiest. I thought we had some really good spots where we looked great, exactly how we should look for most of the game, and then I think we had some moments where we looked like a brand new team.
“So just going forward, trying to work those things out. We have another tough opponent and a quick turnaround, so we have a big day tomorrow.”
Tennessee will next play UT Martin on Thursday at Food City Center. Tipoff for the in-state matchup is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EST and can be watched on SEC Network+.
