Browns fans hoping to see Odell Beckham Jr., Myles Garrett, Baker Mayfield or Nick Chubb in Saturday night’s preseason opener in Jacksonville will have to wait. Coach Kevin Stefanski is sitting the majority of his starters for the exhibition game.

“I think you take it all into account,” Stefanski said in his press conference on Thursday. “I think you take what you learned last year, you take the extra game, you take your players [into account].”

Stefanski continued,

“We’re just going to do what we think is right for the Cleveland Browns and specifically what’s right for each player. That’s how we’ll approach really all of our decisions.”

The coach was noncommital about how he will handle the second and third preseason games. But he did note that the rookies who are healthy enough to play will indeed see action against the Jaguars. That includes first-round pick Greg Newsome II at cornerback and second-round LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.
