Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields has made his way onto another college football preseason award watch list. He has already appeared on the Davey O’Brien and Maxwell Award lists, and now his name is also included in relation to the Manning Award.
The Manning Award, named after father and sons quarterback trio Archie, Peyton, and Eli Manning, has been in place since 2004 and is awarded to college football’s best quarterback annually. Unlike other awards though, it actually takes into account bowl game performances (a novel idea).
You know what kind of playmaker Fields is by now. He should be on the shortlist to take home the honor as long as there’s a season, as long as he stays healthy, and as long as he has the year we all expect.
