Jrue Holiday has strong words for Victor Wembanyama: ‘He’s an anomaly’

After the San Antonio Spurs’ loss to the Boston Celtics, Jrue Holiday had some high praise for Victor Wembanyama.

While the San Antonio Spurs haven’t been winning many games this season, Victor Wembanyama is still taking the league by storm. His stats are impressive, and he’s also creating highlight-reel plays on a game-to-game basis that go viral on social media. Almost everything he does on the court is unbelievable to watch.

The Spurs traveled north to take on the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night, but unfortunately, they got flattened. Boston took home a 117-98 win over San Antonio and was up by as many as 30 points. However, Wembanyama still made his impact on the game, impressing some Celtics players along the way.

After the contest, Celtics guard Jrue Holiday shared his thoughts on Wembanyama.

“He’s fun to play against. He’s an anomaly,” Holiday said via NBC Sports Boston. “He’s definitely a challenge. To be able to be that tall and that versatile. I think I guarded him twice, and I think he just caught it and shot it over me. For me, especially as a defender, I like that type of stuff, because I want to figure out how to stop that. I think he’s a really good player. Really good young player. I think his future is bright, and how he plays the game, I love to watch.”

Wembanyama finished the game with 27 points, five rebounds, one assist, and one block while shooting 10-of-19 from the floor and 2-of-5 from behind the three-point line.

As for Holiday, he put up 22 points, four rebounds, and four assists while shooting 8-of-14 from the field and 6-of-7 from behind the three-point line.
