Josh Elander recaps Vols’ Bellarmine victory, Tony Vitello still records win during suspension

Josh Elander recaps Tennessee’s win against Bellarmine. Tony Vitello still records the win to his head coaching record during his suspension.

No. 1 Tennessee (34-3, 14-1 SEC) defeated Bellarmine (7-29, 5-10 ASUN), 9-3, Tuesday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Tuesday’s game was the second straight contest third base coach Josh Elander served as Tennessee’s acting head coach.

During Tennessee’s game No. 2 against Alabama on April 16, head coach Tony Vitello and pitching coach Frank Anderson were ejected.

Vitello is serving a four-game suspension, while Anderson was only suspended for game No. 3 of the Alabama series.

Vitello still earns Tennessee’s wins and losses to his head coaching record while Elander is serving as acting head coach. If Elander were an interim head coach, and not an acting head coach, Vitello would not receive wins and losses during his suspension.
