Dalton Kincaid was a prospect that excited fans because of his potential and playmaking skill he can bring to the Buffalo Bills offense.
The centerpiece of that group felt the same.
The addition of Kincaid was clearly made by Buffalo’s front office with quarterback Josh Allen in mind. Not only did the QB approve of the measure, Allen hinted he was part of the Bills’ decision, even if just ever so slightly, to select Kincaid in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft.
“He’s very fluid in his route running. He’s a very fluid ball catcher. He tracks the ball well, so any time you get to add a piece to your offense like that, I can’t help but be excited. He seems like he’s a smart kid,” Allen said via the Buffalo News. “He’s going to help us out a lot.”
“We’ll just say I was persistent in my talks with (Brandon) Beane and who I wanted. I was very, very happy with how it happened,” Allen added.
Allen’s path hasn’t yet crossed with Kincaid too much just yet. The two have conversed, but the Bills have only held rookie minicamp in terms of offseason workouts.
Translation: Allen is not there but Kincaid is. In lieu of QB1, Buffalo invited the likes of Quinten Dormandy and Jalen McLendon to toss passes around to players, Kincaid included.
Soon enough, Allen will be the one throwing the pigskin in Kincaid’s direction. For now, Kincaid is just excited about the idea of that… and at rookie minicamp he admitted it was nice to get the football gears turning again.
“I haven’t practiced in six months really, so being out there in that environment was a little different,” Kincaid said. “I was a little rusty but the rust hopefully will come off pretty soon and it will get a little bit easier.”
Those OTA workouts will take place May 22-23, May 25, May 30-June 1, June 5-6, and June 8. Then mandatory minicamp follows from June 13-15.
