Texas could have a handful of players selected in the 2021 NFL Draft.
It’s a considerable improvement from last year, where only three former Longhorns were taken off of the board when Brandon Jones, Devin Duvernay, and Collin Johnson were selected within the third and fifth rounds.
Eight Texas players have chosen to transition to the NFL this year and there’s a great chance that at least six of them will be drafted in April. In fact, two former Longhorns were included on NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks’ top draft prospects by position.
Although offensive tackle Samuel Cosmi is considered one of Texas’ top draft prospects in 2021, he was notably left off of Brooks’ top five tackles in this particular draft class.
Brooks listed Joseph Ossai as his No. 3 overall outside linebacker. The versatile defender has been widely projected to be selected around the tail end of the first round.
- Zaven Collins, Tulsa
- Azeez Ojulari, Georgia
- Joseph Ossai, Texas
- Chris Rumph II, Duke
- Baron Browning, Ohio State
Former Longhorn Caden Sterns is Brooks’ No. 3 safety in the class. The three-year starter at Texas was a leader on the defensive side of the ball and excelled in coverage.
- Trevon Moehrig, TCU
- Jevon Holland, Oregon
- Caden Sterns, Texas
- Andre Cisco, Syracuse
- Hamsah Nasirildeen, Florida State
