Jordan Walsh shines in his Las Vegas Summer League debut with the Boston Celtics

Walsh showed real potential to contribute to the team next season off of the bench in perhaps more than the defensive specialist role in which the Arkansas alum has been imagined.

New Boston Celtics wing Jordan Walsh had himself an impressive start in his Summer Celtics debut for the NBA’s 2023 Las Vegas Summer League in Boston’s 99-88 loss to the Sin City Miami Heat, showing some real potential to contribute to the team next season off of the bench in perhaps more than the defensive specialist role in which the Arkansas alum has been imagined.

6-foot-9 floor general Delano Banton missed the contest with a minor injury that has raised doubts about his availability in Nevada for at least Syunday’s contest and two way point guard JD Davison struggled with turnovers but managed the highs and lows of the game well. Still, Walsh was the clear star of Boston’s first Sin City contest — how will he do in his second game vs. the Summer Washington Wizards?

CLNS Media’s Bobby Manning took some time to break down what he saw from Boston in summer league action Saturday, with an emphasis on the surprise offense from the former Razorback the unexpected high point.

Check out the clip embedded above to hear his take on the Celtics’ No. 38 pick of the 2023 NBA draft.
