Joel Embiid among handful of Sixers questionable for matchup vs. Nuggets

Joel Embiid is among a handful of Philadelphia 76ers who are questionable against the Denver Nuggets.

The Philadelphia 76ers are still dealing with the aftermath of the news of starting shooting guard Seth Curry test positive for the novel coronavirus on Thursday evening. The team is still currently in New York as they await instruction on how to get back to Philadelphia.

They spent the entire day at the New York hotel undergoing testing and contact tracing and there are now a handful of players who will be questionable for Saturday afternoon’s matchup with the Denver Nuggets at home.

One of them is superstar big man Joel Embiid who is one of the early MVP candidates in the league at the moment. On top of that, Tobias Harris, Danny Green, Matisse Thybulle, Shake Milton, Vincent Poirier, and Paul Reed are all considered questionable for the game on Saturday due to the tracing and being considered “close contacts” to Curry.

The Sixers will already enter the game missing Furkan Korkmaz, Mike Scott, and Terrance Ferguson due to injuries, and then Curry is obviously out as well. If all of the players who are questionable can’t play, Philadelphia would be down to only six healthy players which would postpone the game. The  NBA rule is to have eight players healthy to play the game.

The Sixers will have to wait for the results of more COVID tests and they will need to hear back from the NBA on the status of the other players to see if the game can even be played.
