Joe Osovet wins first game at Heritage in 2023

Former Tennessee assistant Joe Osovet wins first game at Heritage in 2023.

Heritage High School (1-1) defeated South-Doyle High School, 30-20, Friday at Billy K. Nicely Memorial Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Joe Osovet enters his second season as Heritage’s head coach.

Osovet served as tight ends coach for the Vols in 2020. He also served as Tennessee’s Director of Player Development (2018) and Director of Football Programming (2019).

Osovet guided Heritage to a 4-6 record in 2022, the school’s best season since 2017 (3-7).

He inherited Heritage’s program with a 0-10 record in 2021.

Heritage will next play Aug. 31 William Blount High School in Maryville, Tennessee. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. EDT.

In 2001, Osovet created a scheme called a manipulation within his Bolt offense at Nassau Community College in Garden City, New York.

Twenty-plus years later, manipulation plays are executed throughout the sport and are known as RPOs.
