Joe Osovet records first win as Heritage’s head coach

Former Vols’ assistant Joe Osovet wins first game as head coach with Heritage.

Former University of Tennessee assistant coach Joe Osovet earned his first victory as Heritage High School’s (Maryville, Tennessee) head coach Friday.

The Mountaineers (1-2, 1-0 Region 2-5A) forced five turnovers in a 45-21 win against Cocke County.

Friday’s victory ended a 17-game losing streak for the Mountaineers. It was Heritage’s first win since Sept. 25, 2020.

Osovet served as the Vols’ tight ends coach in 2020 under head coach Jeremy Pruitt. He also served as Tennessee’s Director of Player Development (2018) and Director of Football Programming (2019).

Osovet served as head coach of Nassau Community College (2013-15) and at ASA College (2016-17) before arriving at Tennessee.

He was hired as Heritage’s head coach in February.
