Joe Osovet looks to guide Heritage to playoff berth

Former Tennessee assistant coach Joe Osovet looks to guide Heritage to a playoff berth.

Former Tennessee assistant coach Joe Osovet is in his first season as head coach at Heritage High School (Maryville, Tennessee).

Osovet has guided the Mountaineers to a 4-5 (2-2 Region 2-5A) record in 2022 and is in position for a TSSAA Class 5A playoff berth.

Heritage hosts Halls High School (Knoxville, Tennessee) Friday. A win against Halls (1-8, 1-3) would clinch a playoff berth for Heritage.

Heritage (5-6) last made the playoffs in 2016. The Mountaineers also made the playoffs in 2015, going 3-8.

Osovet replaced Tim Hammontee at Heritage. Heritage recorded an 0-10 season in 2021 after finishing 2-8 (2020) and 0-10 (2019).

Osovet served as the Vols’ tight ends coach under head coach Jeremy Pruitt. He served as Tennessee’s Director of Player Development (2018) and Director of Football Programming (2019).
