Joe Osovet debuts as Heritage’s head coach

Former Tennessee assistant Joe Osovet debuts as Heritage’s head coach.

Former Tennessee assistant coach Joe Osovet made his debut as head coach at Heritage High School (Maryville, Tennessee) Thursday.

Heritage lost, 45-7, to Maryville High School (Maryville, Tennessee).

Heritage recorded six first downs against Maryville.

Osovet served as tight ends coach for the Vols in 2020.

He served as Tennessee’s Director of Player Development in 2018. In 2019, Osovet was Director of Football Programming.

Osovet was named Heritage’s head coach in February, replacing Tim Hammontree, who won a state championship at Maryville.

Heritage went 0-10 last season and has lost 15 consecutive games.

Heritage last made the playoffs in 2016, finishing 5-6.

The Mountaineers will play Campbell County Aug. 26.
