Arguably the best time of the sports calendar is just a week away, and the madness that ensues will be at an all-time high this year.
Selection Sunday for the NCAA tournament is approaching in two days, and many Longhorn fans are worried about the trajectory of Texas. The Longhorns were handed an early exit ticket in the Big 12 tournament. Chris Beard’s squad blew a 20-point lead to TCU in their opening matchup.
The team has been inconsistent all season, and still lacks an identity which is not ideal a week ahead of the biggest game of their season. Beard was irate with his team’s performance and attitude against TCU, and it now has the fan base worried if his first season will be similar to that of Shaka Smart’s last, which ended in a first round upset.
ESPN’s Bracketology expert Joe Lunardi released his latest projection of how the March Madness tournament will look, and surprisingly Texas is still viewed as a No. 5 seed.
This could have the Longhorns facing off against a scrappy No. 12 seed from a conference like the Big East or the Big 10. Texas has lost five out of their last eight games, and quickly need something to click in order to find success in the tournament.
