The Cincinnati Bengals are going to the Super Bowl.
It’s a sentence most probably didn’t think plausible after a combined six wins over the first two years of the Zac Taylor era.
But Sunday, Joe Burrow and Co., punched a ticket to Super Bowl LVI with an overtime win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
After an ugly first half, the Bengals gave everyone a massive dose of deja vu, doing much of the same thing they did in a Week 17 win over the Chiefs, locking Patrick Mahomes and Co. down in the second half while clawing back.
They overcame a 21-3 deficit along the way, with Burrow willing his offense down the field with his arm and legs. The Chiefs forced overtime, but Vonn Bell and Jessie Bates forced a turnover on Kansas City’s first drive of the extra period. From there, Burrow made a few key plays to get in range.
Super Bowl LVI takes place on February 13, 2022, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The Bengals will play the winner of the San Francisco 49ers-Los Angeles Rams NFC title game.
