Jessie Pegula: Mother, Kim, suffered cardiac arrest

The daughter of Buffalo Bills co-owner Kim Pegula answered the question many had wondered: What happened?

In June 2022, the Bills released a statement that said the 53-year-old owner had sustained an “unexpected health issue.”

On Tuesday, Jessie Pegula, daughter of Bills owners Kim and Terry and a professional tennis player in her own right, revealed what happened. Jessie Pegula spoke via the Players’ Tribune and said her mother suffered cardiac arrest and said her recovery is ongoing.

Jessie Pegula’s explanation via the Players’ Tribune can be found below:

I got a call around midnight (on my mom’s birthday) from my sister Kelly who was staying at my parents’ house. Something was wrong with our mom, and she was headed to the hospital in an ambulance. My mom was asleep when my dad woke up to her going into cardiac arrest and she was unresponsive for quite a while. My sister gave her CPR until the ambulance arrived. She saved her life. Even though she doesn’t like to take credit for this terrible situation, she absolutely saved her life, followed by the critical job performed by the paramedics who arrived and were able to restore a heartbeat.

Jessie Pegula went on to describe Kim Pegula’s recovery which was called ongoing. She is dealing with “significant expressive aphasia and significant memory issues” but Jessie Pegula, like many of us would be, says she is just grateful and thankful she still can be with her mother.

“The doctors continue to be blown away by her recovery, considering where she started, and her determination is the driving force of that,” Jessie Pegula wrote.

“My mom is working hard in her recovery, she is improving, but where she ends up is still unknown,” she continued.

Bills Wire joins the rest of Buffalo in keeping the Pegulas in our thoughts at this time.
