Jalen Hood-Schifino underwent a back procedure

Rookie Lakers guard Jalen Hood-Schifino is done for the season after undergoing a successful back procedure.

The Los Angeles Lakers have had to deal with numerous injuries to their role and complementary players all season. While LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Austin Reaves have been relatively healthy throughout, several other players have had stints on the injured list.

Right now, guard Gabe Vincent, forward Jarred Vanderbilt and big man Christian Wood are out due to injury. While Wood is likely out for the season, Vincent may be nearing a return, and Vanderbilt seems to be slowly but surely progressing.

On Thursday, a new name was added to the list of Lakers players unable to play for a while due to a health ailment: Jalen Hood-Schifino. The rookie guard reportedly underwent a successful lumbar microdiscectomy back procedure to fix a bulging disc in his back.

He appeared in 21 games for the Lakers and has struggled mightily. He has had massive trouble getting his shots to go through the hoop. However, he has shown promise playing in the G League by averaging 22 points and 5.5 assists a game while shooting 47.3% from the field and 43.2% from 3-point range in 15 games with the South Bay Lakers.
