Jake Fromm has spoken to Bills teammates

Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll says quarterback Jake Fromm spoke to teammates about text messages.

Following some insensitive text messages that surfaced from Bills rookie quarterback Jake Fromm, he publicly issued an apology.

The next step was a more personal touch, and Fromm did so on Thursday, according to Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll. Speaking to members of the western New York media on Friday. Daboll said Fromm addressed the issue with his teammates the day prior.

“Jake spoke to the team yesterday,”  Daboll said. “(Fromm) gave an apology for the text messages that came out yesterday. He knows that he has a lot of work to do to earn the trust of his teammates back… and I’m a big believer in actions speak louder than words. So I know he’ll be committed to that. We have a strong leadership group, a strong culture in our room. But Jake is a young man who apologized and where we go moving forward, he’s got a lot to do to earn the trust and confident of the players and everyone else in the building back and I know he’ll work hard to do that.”

Fromm apologized because of text messages that surfaced earlier that same day. In it, Fromm makes racially-charged comments which includes the phrase “elite white people.” Daboll is certainly right that it could take some time for Fromm to earn some good feelings from his teammates back, particularly guys like Mario Addison and Tre’Davious White.

Both defenders took to social media this week and were upset with Drew Brees. The Saints quarterback made a comment about not being in favor of taking a knee during the national anthem when the 2020 season starts. Previously 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick did so to highlight social injustices aimed at African American citizens in the United States. Kaepernick has since been black-balled from the NFL. Fromm’s texts surface as unrest is at an all-time high in the country following the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

In addition to White’s comments on Brees, he also was spotted interacting with posts on social media which were aimed at Fromm. Notably, White shared or re-tweeted on Twitter a post from former college teammate Jamal Adams. In it, Adams said Brees and Fromm were only sorry because of backlash they received.
