The Jacksonville Jaguars officially named their coaching staff last week and started this week by officially naming Tom Gamble and Ryan Stamper to their front office. Both had been associated with the Jags’ front office as it was revealed that they would be joining the organization, but they officially have job titles now.

General manager Trent Baalke revealed last month that Tom Gamble had been working in the front office already. Gamble’s decision to join the Jags comes after he was Baalke’s right-hand man during a majority of his time as the San Francisco 49ers’ front office leader from 2011-16.
Gamble’s last stop was in the Canadian football League where he was named the assistant general manager for the Montreal Alouettes in 2020. Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic prevented the CFL from having a season and now Gamble is with the Jags.
“Tom and Ryan are key additions to the personnel department,” Baalke said of both new additions. “Tom brings 30 years of NFL experience in player personnel, and, given our extensive history together, his counsel, expertise, and wealth of relationships in the business will help us in every aspect of player acquisition and retention.”
As for Stamper, who is from Jacksonville, he was a former linebacker for Urban Meyer while at the University of Florida. After his college career as a player, he spent eight years working with the Buckeyes under Meyer. His last title with them was as an assistant athletic director of player development.
“As a native of Jacksonville, Ryan knows this area, and his track record of working with young men and preparing them for life on and off the field is impressive and well documented,” Baalke added. “He will play an important role in helping us bridge the gap between player acquisition, player development and player retention. The energy and expertise that both Tom and Ryan bring to the organization will serve us well as we strive to build a winner, both on and off the field, in Jacksonville.”
As a player, Stamper was a two-time captain for Meyer and was on the Gators’ team from 2006-09. Stamper finished his career with 148 total tackles (13.5 for loss), 4.5 sacks, and two picks during his time in Gainesville.
