Jacksonville Jaguars left tackle Cam Robinson will not be playing on the franchise tag for a second consecutive year. The reason for that is because the team has reached a new contract agreement with him, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The deal is a three-year one worth $54 million, and it averages $18 million a year.

The Jags used the franchise tag on Robinson on March 8. However, the plan was to never let him play on it as Doug Pederson said the Jags wanted to give him a long-term deal at the NFL owners meetings this offseason. Last week, Jags general manager Trent Baalke said the same and added that contract talks were positive with Robinson.
The Jags’ offensive line struggled to protect quarterback Trevor Lawrence last season, but Robinson was far from its biggest issue. He registered a 76.6 pass protection grade (a career-high), though he had a 67.4 grade overall, according to Pro Football Focus.Â
Obviously, the pass protection was something Pederson and Baalke saw on film and wanted the veteran back on Trevor Lawrence’s blindside. And now that the left tackle position is taken care of, the Jags can focus on bolstering other offensive line positions in the draft if they choose to.
