Just as fans witnessed over the past few weeks, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Mike Glennon struggled to get going Week 14 against the Tennessee Titans, and as a result, he’s been benched. After a rough first half and throwing a terrible pick to Titans cornerback Malcolm Butler in the third quarter, coach Doug Marrone had seemingly seen enough. In came Gardner Minshew II, ending Glennon’s run as the Jags QB1 (at least for now).
Glennon exited the game 13-of-23 for 85 yards, and of course, there was the aforementioned pick.
Minshew, on the other hand, was able to come in and lead the Jags down the field for a touchdown pass to Keelan Cole. Although it was mostly a result of Tennessee taking their foot off the pedal, the drive was an 11-play sequence that lasted almost six minutes.
Minshew unfourtunately was unable to provide another score in the following drive, which ended on downs on Tennessee’s 14-yard line. With five minutes remaining in the game and the score being at a 31-10 figure, this one is out of reach for the Jags and they will endure their 12th straight loss of the season.
The big question heading forward at this point will be which quarterback finishes the season. With the Glennon project running its course, most would bet on Minshew for the remainder of the season — and then it will be a matter of looking ahead to the draft or free-agency for a long-term answer.
