Jacob deGrom is putting up the most insane, record-breaking stats right now

Jacob deGrom is wheeling and dealing his way into the history books.

We already knew what a freak of nature Jacob deGrom is for the New York Mets, but this season has been something otherworldly for the 32-year-old pitcher. In Friday’s 6-0 win for the Mets over the Washington Nationals, deGrom had himself a historic night on the mound by becoming the first modern-era player to record 50 strikeouts through their first four starts in a season.

DeGrom went a full nine innings, held Washington to two hits, had no earned runs, and piled up 15 strikeouts with no walks. It was a completely dominant performance, and it’s becoming a trend for deGrom as Friday’s game was his third straight putting up 14-plus strikeouts.

The list of deGrom’s insane feats is quite the story, as he’s really doing it all for the Mets right now.

Not only is deGrom delivering on the pitching mound, he’s also hitting .545 at the plate in his limited appearances. The pitching performance is one thing — one huge, monumental thing — but lighting it up at the plate is something else all together.

His teammates have nothing but good things to say about deGrom right now, as Marcus Stroman took to Twitter to sing his fellow pitcher’s praises as being one of the best in the business.

We’re incredibly lucky to be watching deGrom wheel and deal right now. There really is nothing like it.
