Ja Morant cleared the air with Stephen Curry after Twitter exchange

The Grizzlies rookie offered a response to the back-and-forth exchange he had with Curry this week on social media.

Ja Morant said on Wednesday morning that he has cleared the air with Stephen Curry after a back-and-forth exchange on Twitter involving Andre Iguodala.

The exchange began when Grizzlies guard Dillon Brooks said he couldn’t wait for the team to trade the exiled Iguodala to show him what Memphis has to offer. Morant echoed that statement made by Brooks with his response quickly spreading across social media.

Curry appeared to weigh in on the situation after posting a picture on Instagram of Iguodala holding the NBA championship trophy and a “shush” emoji. Morant responded to Curry’s picture with one of Kevin Durant holding the championship trophy.

Morant maintained that he respects Curry and even pulled up old tweets showing his support for the two-time NBA MVP. Morant clarified he is a fan of Curry but isn’t afraid of him. He said the two have since had a friendly chat about the situation, according to Evan Barnes of the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

Iguodala hasn’t played this season after the Golden State Warriors traded him to the Grizzlies last summer. The Warriors needed to shed his salary in order to create cap space to acquire D’Angelo Russell in a sign and trade with the Brooklyn Nets.

Following the trade, both the Grizzlies and Iguodala agreed that he would not play this season and that they would work to find a trade for him. The Grizzlies have been adamant that they will not buy his contract out in order to trade him prior to the deadline on Thursday afternoon.

Morant has displayed a high confidence level of his game since entering the NBA and a never-back-down mentality which has resonated well with Grizzlies fans though some have mistaken his bravado in a negative way, thus creating backlash to his initial reaction.
