Recently, I had the chance to talk to former Michigan State basketball star Miles Bridges about the new collegiate DUNKaroos team he is presenting along with some questions about his season, which Spartan he would want to dunk on, and more.
You can read the full interview below:
SpartansWire: Can you tell me more about what the All-DUNKaroos team is and how fans can get involved?
Miles Bridges: Basically, Dunkaroos is introducing five all-star dunkers during the March college basketball tournament to be a part of the new team of top ballers whose love for hoops is only outweighed by their love of Dunkaroos snacks. So, basically we are picking five dunkers, five of the best people in college who love dunkaroos and starting March 7 fans can follow me @MilesBridges and @Dunkaroos on Twitter and Instagram where we’ll be naming someone to the All-Dunkaroos team each week.
SpartansWire: Is there a dunk that stands out from your basketball career as your favorite?
MB:  My favorite I have to go with, probably in the pros when I dunked on Clint Capela last year, my third year in the league.
SpartansWire: Dunk contest between 3 Spartans: You, Shannon Brown, and J-Rich (Jason Richardson) – Who wins?
MB: Oh that’s tough. I mean, J-Rich he already got the dunk contest to show for it so I’ll go J-Rich, myself, and then Shannon Brown.
SpartansWire: Which Spartan who is currently in the league would you love to poster with a dunk?
MB: Of course Draymond because he’s always talking smack to me but I think because Jaren’s (Jaren Jackson Jr.) creeping up on Defensive Player of the Year and the block list that I want to catch him
SpartansWire: You haven’t caught him yet?
MB: I think I actually did but it was kind of on a reverse but I really want to just catch him head up so he won’t have any excuses when we’re talkin’ stuff to each other.
SpartansWire: What has this season meant to you, with your Hornets right in the middle of the playoff hunt and you having a brighter spotlight individually, with many flagging you as a leading candidate for Most Improved Player? Do you think there is something specific in your game that has improved or was this season more about seizing an opportunity?
MB: I mean it’s a combination of everything you said. Just me putting the work in the summertime and just the game slowing down for me. I’m in my fourth year in the NBA so the game has slowed down tremendously for me and I’m able to play make, I’m able to score the ball when I need to, make good defensive plays, so yeah I say my coaches they did a great job, my trainers they did a great job of getting me ready and just me being ready for this opportunity.
SpartansWire: I’m a huge fan of RTB MB, that’s your rap alias if people aren’t aware.. what are your goals in the music space both short and long term?
MB: Well of course you know basketball is my number one priority, but off the court, you know I like making music. I plan on dropping more music during my off-time so just stay tuned I gotcha.
SpartansWire: What do players who are selected to the DUNKaroos team get for being part of the team and can fans get anything for participating?
MB: Each player selected will receive a Dunkaroos slam dunk delivery box similar to the one that I received and that includes custom Dunkaroos shoes, a personalized Dunkaroos jersey, and Dunkaroos merch. Fans can enter the sweepstakes at www.dunksweeps.com, it goes live March 13 through April 3
